War Memorial

We have just taken over the maintenance of the War Memorial from Dave and Margaret who have done such great work for the past few years. We had been seeking a way to contribute to Village life, but this turned out to be more than we expected.

Studying the Commemorative Plaque to the Village Fallen, we stopped on William Smith’s entry. He died at the same time and in the same battle as my Grandfather, Walter Lowman. They are both honoured at the Pozieres Memorial in France. So, by maintaining the Lothersdale War Memorial not only will we be honouring the Village Fallen but also my Grandfather.
